7 Simple Stoner Snacks in Seven Minutes

SNACKS – FAST – YUMMY

You’re stoned. You have the munchies. You want satisfaction quickly. You have already stared into the abyss of your fridge and pantry. “What do I eat – I’ll go grab a pizza. No, a doughnut, a burger…” But no! you’re tired of the fast food coma.  And with friends, we can’t make any decisions here. Stop. Save your money. Save your stomach. Smoke a spliff. Share some’o this with your fellow hippie friends and it’s sweet-sailin’ from there. Enjoy.

1. The Sinful: TWO MINUTE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE CAKE

I’m not joking. This recipe should be a sin. You are about to have a brownie all to yourself, in two minutes. The coolest part is that it’s in a mug. And you can top it with ice cram if you so dare. If you’re with friends. You all need to grab a mug right now and do this. Each person (or just you) needs the following things:

-A MUG (non metallic …it’s going to go into the microwave. Don’t blow up your house.)
Now, put the following ingredients into your mug:
-1/4 CUP FLOUR
-2 HEAPING TABLESPOONS OF COCOA (or Hot chocolate mix if you don’t have Cocoa)
-PINCH OF SALT
-PINCH OF CINNAMON (Optional, but yummy)
Now, stir up all of these things so there are no clumpy parts. Stir, stir, stir! Then Add:
-1/4 CUP OF MILK OR WATER (Milk takes better)
-2 TABLESPOONS OF OIL (Canola, vegetable, corn, or sunflower work best)
-DROP OF VANILLA EXTRACT  (If you have it, use it)
Now, mix it all up. You get to eat this soon!

Now go to your microwave and put in your mug (one mug at a time). Set your microwave on high for 1 Minute and 40 Seconds. That’s 1:40. You might need to put it in for a little longer (30 sec or so) if it doesn’t look done. But usually 1:40 works for me.  When it’s done, let it cool for a bit, throw on some whip or ice cream and INDULGE!

2. The Simple: CHEESE AND CRACKERS AND APPLES -A CLASSIC

Something about cheese and crackers takes me back to childhood. I think many of us can relate! This snack is a classic and really easy to make. I love making this when I’m hanging out with some friends because A) I’m not in the kitchen for hours B) It’s inexpensive C) Everyone loves it. EASY. This snack is pretty self explanatory – and just know that you can get creative with it. You can impress your friends and make the plate/platter fancy, and lay out the apples in a nifty way (you can add other fruits, too). Or you can just quickly cut the cheese (haha…) throw some crackers onto a plate and enjoy. The apples are a nice crunchy tartness and I love and gives some flavor variety. And it’s good for you. You’re stoned. You’ll be happy. So simple!

3. The Sweet: DIY BAGEL CHIPS – SO GOOD.

Do you have bagels hanging around in the kitchen? Do you have a bagel you didn’t finish eating? Do you have stale bagels you don’t want to eat but are technically still good? Then turn on your oven to 350 degrees NOW!

So, this is easy to do. Slice your bagels the way the photo above shows. So make sure the hole is still in the middle. You can do it the other way too…they just won’t look like bagels anymore. But they’ll taste good. So who cares.

Melt some butter in a bowl. Then, brush the tops of the bagel slices with the butter. You can use your fingers if you need to, or dip the bagels in the butter. Then sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar on top of each slice that you’ve buttered. Put them on a baking sheet and put into the oven that you preheated when I told you to. Bake them for 15 minutes, check that they’re crispy. And you’re DONE! THEY TASTE LIKE CRISPY FRENCH TOAST GOODNESS YUMMMMMMMM MUNCHIESSSSSS!

For Bagel chips that aren’t sweet, Try them with the following other toppings for some variety:
-Butter, italian seasoning, garlic powder, parmesan
-Butter, tomato Sauce, mozzarella Cheese
-Butter, Cocoa powder or hot chocolate mix, brown sugar
-Butter, maple syrup, maple syrup, maple syrup, and maple syrup

4. The Salty: MOVIE THEATRE STYLE POPCORN

Why are you microwaving popcorn when you can have better popcorn in a matter of minutes? If you’re craving something salty and your stoner buddies are in, get started on a batch of this salty goodness.

You’ll just need a pot first (a metal pot…not POT) Make sure it’s a big one. Or else you will look like this guy:

Just follow this recipe. It’s so much better than microwave popcorn! Promise! This recipe makes enough for two hungry people!

-A POT OR SAUCEPAN WITH A LID
-THREE TABLESPOONS OF CANOLA, CORN, OR GRAPESEED OIL
-1/3 CUP (about half a mug) POPCORN KERNELS
-1/3 CUP (about half a mug)  MELTED BUTTER
-SALT

1 Heat the oil in a 3-quart saucepan on medium high heat on stovetop.
2 Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil and cover the pan with the lid.
3 When the kernels pop, add the rest of the popcorn kernels in an even layer. Cover, remove from heat and count 30 seconds. (Count out loud; it’s fun to do with your friends…or by yourself.) This method first heats the oil to the right temperature, then waiting 30 seconds brings all of the other kernels to a near-popping temperature so that when they are put back on the heat, they all pop at about the same time.  MAGIC.
4 Return the pan to the heat. The popcorn should begin popping soon, and all at once. You can move the pot/pan around a bit if they aren’t popping…but they should pop. So once you hear popping, just gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner. Try to keep the lid slightly open on the side to let the steam from the popcorn release (the popcorn will be drier and crisper). Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl. With this technique, nearly all of the kernels pop!
5 If you are adding butter (you should), you can easily melt it by placing the butter in the now empty, but hot pan or just in the microwave, and drizzle SLOWLY onto your batch of popcorn. Don’t just dump it. You will have soggy crap. DRIZZLE.
6 Salt to taste.

TIPS:

*If you add salt to the oil in the pan before popping, when the popcorn pops, the salt will be well distributed throughout the popcorn.

* Fun toppings for the popcorn:
– SAVOURY: Spanish smoked paprika,  cayenne powder, chili pepper, curry powder, cumin, grated Parmesan cheese.
-SWEET: Cinnamon, chocolate shavings, maple syrup and butter

5. The Sexy: STRAWBERRIES AND CHOCOLATE/NUTELLA

You can plan this one ahead if you’re smoking up with your lover or a friend with benefits. Or to be honest… you can just consume a whole bunch of these alone, because they’re so delicious and satisfying…and kinda sexy.

You need:

Option 1:
STRAWBERRIES
CHOCOLATE (chips, or bakers chocolate, or a plain chocolate bar)
BUTTER (About a table spoon full for half a cup of chocolate you use)

Put chocolate and butter in the microwave for 10 seconds. Put in for another 10 if it needs more melting. Do this until you can stir it smooth. Don’t burn it.
Wash your strawberries, dry ’em off and start dippin’. Strawberries, fingers, and all…

Option 2:

STRAWBERRIES
NUTELLA

Just put some nutella in a bowl (our out of the jar, but for this to be sexy, and to surprise your girl or guy, or both, I’d put it into a cute bowl) and lay out the strawberries…start dippin’!

6. The Stoner: GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH WITH AVOCADO

This is a personal favourite. Because Avocados are good for you! And this snack is completely satisfying. You feel great afterwards, and it’s also a bit of an indulgence, which is awesome. It’s easy to do, and when I make this, I have time to think stoner thoughts as I put together this gorgeous sandwich spectacle.

You need:
BREAD (any kind…I like rye. But you choose)
AVOCADO, SLICED
CHEDDAR CHEESE (Real cheddar is best, sliced)
BACON (optional, but yummy)
APRICOT JAM (Sounds weird, but it’s actually incredible)

Then:
Heat an iron skillet or pan. Melt butter in the pan, lay in your first piece of bread. Put your items on your sandwich. Place top piece of bread on top. Grill to perfection, on both sides until cheese is melty. ENJOY!

7. The Snack: HEALTHY AND FULFILLING

If you have a blender, you can do this. Saving the smoothie to the last because I have always enjoyed a good smoothie for a snack at any time of the day. It could be the middle of the night and I’ll get out my little blender and throw in whatever fruits I have on hand, a bit of ice cream, sherbet or yogurt and blend. It satisfier hunger and makes you feel great afterwards, and, I feel super productive, stoned or not, after making myself one of these puppies. Below are some of my own favourites and combinations of ingredients you can use in your smoothie snack. The names are fun. Make some to share, or have it yourself!
